About the Art Collider

TheArtCollider is a platform for connected creation of time based art and one of the CITU’s research axes aiming at creating a collaborative approach of media art creation through an experimental system of Peer-to-Peer or Artist-to-Artist production.

The proliferation of networking and communication systems fosters the free circulation and the diversity of exchange, which create a redistribution of values, as opposed to those in economics which are merely transactions. This project is at the cutting-edge of research, creation and exhibition.

TheArtCollider enables artists to join a Peer-to-Peer channel supplying and feeding audio, video and [control] data. It allows for decentralized contributions which are screened at public exhibition places. This transaction-art blurs the lines of traditional exhibition, participation and feedback as to explore technical impact on communication.

TheArtCollider is real-live: movies, documentations, sounds, collages, visualizations or interpretations. It offers an abstraction for ready-made, interactive and collaborative pieces just as it provides for feedback in the form of comments, annotations or even re-makes. and it’s not limited to it: generic information can be transmitted just the same, sensor arrays, touch screens, processed data; you name it.

Each project subscribes to flow from the network and can either use, ignore or divert them. In exchange, each project must send back its own composed data in real time. Thus, creation is fostered. Contrary to well spread P2P consumption, P2P creation is designed to offer only what we produce.
